Latest Tools to Assist Women at Highest RiskNovember 15, 2011 Today Feminists for Life unveils the latest component of our Tools for Schools: Communications Strategies for school administrators. Using these strategies to publicize available resources can make a huge difference in the lives of pregnant women and parents on campus. Since 1997 Feminists for Life has been developing ways for college and university students, staff, faculty, and administrators to work together to create resources and support for pregnant women, expectant fathers, parenting students, and birthmothers on campus. We've long recognized, however, that even a strong policy or ingenious resource for pregnant women and parents cannot be effective if people do not know the policy or resource exists. That's why we've encouraged Pregnancy Resource Forum participants to effectively communicate their school policies and publicize information about resources supporting pregnant women, parents, and birthparents to students, faculty, and staff. And this year we're creating tools that will help schools step-up their efforts. Just a few weeks ago, FFL revealed the next solution-oriented Tools for Schools: Model School Policies and Model Text for Student Handbooks/Websites/Handouts for use by campus clinic staff and other school advisors. If you are a student activist or alum eager to transform your alma mater, please review the materials linked above. Please contact FFL's College Outreach Program Coordinator and then plan to meet with your school administrators, bringing FFL's Tools for Schools with you. Offer them your assistance--be a part of the solution. If you are a faculty member, staff member, or administrator, please check out FFL's Tools for Schools and share them with your colleagues. Because women deserve better, Serrin M. Foster
